Risks drowning at sea, saved thanks to a coast guard operation. A search and rescue activity at sea coordinated this morning by the Operations Department of the Maritime Directorate of Campania was successfully concluded.
Following a report received from military personnel of the Local Maritime Office of Castel Volturno, regarding an alleged drowning near the Lido Arcobaleno in the Municipality of Castel Volturno (Caserta), the District Maritime Office of Pozzuoli, as the Coast Guard Unit of the National Sar Plan, has ordered the immediate intervention of the SarCP 807 patrol boat of the Ischia Coast Guard, also requesting organizational and coordination support from the Operations Room in Naples, for the use of nautical means and aircraft capable of carrying out the requested Sar (search and rescue) mission.
In order to facilitate the search operations for the unfortunate man, the Naples Operations Room ordered the intervention of the CP 711 patrol boat and the overflight of the Drago helicopter of the Fire Brigade of the Pontecagnano air base (Salerno). The complex search organization allowed the identification of the man, a 53-year-old resident of Giugliano in Campania (Naples), still alive and in apparently good conditions.
The man was recovered aboard the CP 807 patrol boat. The man was finally disembarked at the port of Acquamorta, in the municipality of Monte di Procida (Naples), where he was entrusted to the care of the medical personnel who intervened, to be subsequently transferred by ambulance to the nearby hospital of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Pozzuoli.

It is a very serious event that happened, but it is nice to know that the coast guard did a good job. We hope that the man is okay now and that similar incidents do not happen again in the future.
