Ercolano – Thousands of citizens, schools, associations, and institutions will take to the streets on Thursday, April 3, for the March for Legality, an event promoted by the Giulio Rodinò Comprehensive School, led by principal Velio Scarano.
The initiative aims to be a testimony of the change and redemption of a city that has turned its back on organized crime, choosing the path of legality and justice.
The procession through the symbolic places of rebirth
The march will start at 10 am from Piazza Pugliano and will cross Corso Resina, once an area marked by the presence of the Camorra, to end at the Parco del Miglio d'Oro. Today, those same places are the symbol of a community that has chosen to react: where once stood the strongholds of crime, today the voices and smiles of the new generations will resonate.
“Let's walk the Mile of Legality together,” said the mayor of Ercolano, Ciro Buonajuto. “This march is an opportunity for discussion and reflection on the values of justice and civil coexistence. It is a moment of pride for the entire city, which forcefully reiterates its no to any form of illegality.”
A constant commitment against violence
The event, coordinated by Eva Gable, promoter of the March of Legality for 30 years, represents the culmination of work carried out all year with the support of law enforcement, associations and institutions. This year, the focus will be on the relationship between parents and children, a theme made even more urgent by the recent episodes of domestic violence that have shaken the community.
“The slogan of this edition is clear and unequivocal: enough violence,” Gable emphasized. In the days leading up to the march, the MAV (Virtual Archaeological Museum) hosted two meetings dedicated to parents and students, with contributions from experts on the topic.
Herculaneum does not forget the past, but looks forward with determination, transforming wounds into opportunities for growth. The appeal is addressed to all citizens, so that they participate in large numbers to demonstrate that legality is a choice of community and future.
