A woman resident in Ottaviano, in the province of Napoli, died in hospital in Naples following serious burns suffered, according to initial reconstructions, inside her own home.
The dramatic event shocked the local community. The alarm was reportedly raised by the victim's husband, who contacted 118 in an attempt to rescue her. The woman, mother of a little girl, was alone at home at the time of the accident, while her daughter was with her father.
The Carabinieri intervened on the spot and began investigations to shed light on the causes of the tragedy. The house was placed under seizure by order of the Nola Prosecutor's Office, which is coordinating the investigation. The husband was questioned by investigators to reconstruct the dynamics of the events.
The exact cause of the burns that led to the woman's death remains unclear, while authorities continue investigations to establish any responsibilities or accidental circumstances.
