ON THE SAME TOPIC

Waste management becomes easier and smarter thanks to the innovative digital support offered by the Econova company: the citizens of Mugnano di Napoli, Meta and San Vitaliano can now count on Junker, an advanced digital application that guides in separate waste collection, helping to avoid errors and improving the effectiveness of the environmental management service.

The app is available free of charge and allows users to stay up to date on door-to-door collection calendars, collection points and ecological initiatives in their municipality. Junker, the application that is revolutionising waste management, is already successfully used in over 147 municipalities in the region and in more than 3.000 municipalities in Italy.

Thanks to a database of over 2 million products, the app allows you to recognize any type of waste through the barcode, providing real-time information on how to correctly differentiate packaging. With the geolocation feature, the indications are personalized based on the user's municipality, useful for residents as well as tourists or workers who are on the move.

The app also provides daily notifications regarding the next day's collection, promptly informing in the event of holidays, changes to the service or emergencies. For waste that cannot be disposed of in household containers, such as expired medicines, batteries or electronic equipment, Junker indicates the location of collection centers in the area, facilitating correct disposal.

Another strong point of Junker is its accessibility: the app is available in 13 languages and can also be used by people with visual impairments, ensuring that everyone, residents and tourists, can contribute correctly to separate waste collection. The ease of use and its ability to support the user with easily accessible information make Junker an ideal service also for the older segment of the population.

“Thanks to Junker, municipalities and waste managers can optimize collection and management processes, respecting the quality standards required by ARERA. This not only improves transparency and access to information for citizens, but also promotes a more responsible and conscious approach to separate waste collection”, said Noemi De Santis, head of communications at Econova.

In addition to the obvious environmental benefits, such as the reduction of CO2 emissions, the use of Junker will also bring economic benefits to municipalities. More efficient separate waste collection means lower management costs and higher revenues from recyclable materials consortia.

  1. The article talks about how Junker can help with waste sorting. But it is not clear if all people know how to use it well. Even though it is free, it takes some time to learn how to use it and read barcodes.
