Ottaviano – There are still too many dark points to clarify in the death of Lucia Iervolino, the 30-year-old woman who died today at the Cardarelli hospital in Naples due to the very serious burns suffered on 90% of her body.
The victim's husband was interviewed at length by the Carabinieri and the prosecutor Aurelia Caporale of the Nola Prosecutor's Office to provide his version of the facts. Investigators are trying to clarify several aspects of the case, considered still obscure.
The woman had been rescued in her home in Ottaviano, where she lived with her husband and their eight-month-old daughter.
According to initial reconstructions, it was precisely the husband of the victim, also 30 years old, to call for help. The 118 paramedics, arriving on the scene, found the woman in desperate conditions in the bathroom of the house, with extensive burns all over her body, including her face.
Given the seriousness of the situation, an immediate transfer to the Major Burns Unit of the Cardarelli Hospital was ordered, where unfortunately the woman passed away.
The burns, as it turned out, had seriously compromised the respiratory tract. The Nola Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation to shed light on the matter. At the moment, investigators are not ruling out any hypothesis, including a voluntary act or a tragic domestic accident.
