Ribbon cutting for the new Palatenda of Sant'Antonio Abate, which, after a major renovation, is ready to welcome sports associations, schools and citizens.
The mayor inaugurated the facility Ilaria Abagnale, who underlined the importance of this intervention for the Abate community. “This work is the result of great teamwork – declared Abagnale – and it is only the first of many other initiatives aimed at creating opportunities for our territory and for young people. The new Palatenda is finally equipped with everything necessary to best host sports and recreational activities, both scholastic and associative”.
Thanks to a Metropolitan City funding of approximately 600 thousand euros, integrated by municipal resources, the works have allowed the creation of a service block with four changing rooms and a first aid room, annexed to the tent structure. Among the most significant interventions are: cover replacement with an innovative double inflatable layer for better thermal insulation; new baskets latest generation, approved for the Basketball Serie B; oak wood parquet, to ensure a playing surface worthy of competition.
The structure, now fully operational, will be able to host Basketball, volleyball and other sports competitions and training, in addition to being used as school gym. The municipal administration does not stop here: the construction of the stands, to allow fans to attend the home matches of the Bioverde Basketball Antoniana.
“We are working in synergy with companies, athletes and technicians to identify the most effective solution – explained the mayor – and we have already allocated an initial investment of 100 thousand euros for the purchase of the stands, which will be included in the next budget changes".
With the completion of the stands, the Palatenda di Sant'Antonio Abate will be a true point of reference for local sports, offering a modern and accessible space for athletes, students and enthusiasts. “We will not stop here, we will continue to invest to offer our citizens increasingly efficient structures that meet their needs”, concluded Abagnale.

It's nice to see that there are finally investments in local sports, but I hope that this money is used well and not wasted. The new Palatenda seems promising and useful for everyone, but controls are needed.
