In an open letter addressed to institutions and entrepreneurs, the bishop of Caserta and Capua, Pietro Lagnese, expressed his concern for the situation of the workers of Jabil in Caserta, asking for a joint intervention to avoid layoffs.
“To resolve these crises, we need to get together, central and local government, entrepreneurs and unions, and find viable ways to prevent workers from being laid off and save families from desperation”, wrote the bishop, hoping that the transition from Jabil to the state-owned company Tme will lead to a “solemn commitment” for the territory and its inhabitants.
Lagnese also recalled the difficult situation of the Softlab workers, former Jabil employees, asking for a solution that guarantees them a peaceful and long-lasting working future.
“For the Softlab workers it would be a fair compensation for the serious wrong suffered”, added the bishop, underlining the importance of “giving dignity to work” and supporting those fighting for social justice.
The bishop's appeal comes at a crucial time for the future of the workers of Jabil and Softlab, and emphasizes the need for a joint commitment by all the institutions and actors involved to avert an employment crisis that would have serious repercussions on the territory.
