A Timeless Drama Revisited
“Romeo + Juliet” is a postmodern reinterpretation of William Shakespeare’s play, inspired by the 1996 film. The story revolves around the rival Montague and Capulet families, reimagined as feuding industrial magnates. This adaptation transports the classic tale of love and tragedy into a modern setting, characterized by a war of power. The cast is composed of talented actors, including Alessandro Amatrudo, Giuseppe Catalano, and Nadia D’Amico. The costumes are designed by Fiorella Iaccio, while the sets are by Antonello Ronga, enriched by the images of Marcello De Martino. The visual component is further enhanced by the work of GFM Service.

The performance maintains the structure of the original drama, but offers a more dynamic perspective. Romeo infiltrates a Capulet party and meets Juliet, with whom a forbidden love is born. Tragic events and misunderstandings, such as the deaths of Mercutio and Tybalt, culminate in the dramatic epilogue. This adaptation aims to offer a reflection on the divisions and conflicts that pervade modern societies, with a visual and narrative language that engages the audience.
