Naples – A more sustainable, inclusive and cutting-edge Naples, designed through 117 projects presented yesterday at Maschio Angioino by the students of the LANDesign Laboratory of the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli".
Article Key Points
Of these, 28 were officially delivered to the city councilor Gennaro Demetrio Paipais, with the hope that the Administration will make them its own and implement them.
The event took place in the Sala dei Baroni, during the 36th edition of the “Ergo” exhibition, which attracted not only professionals but also tourists curious to discover the innovative visions for the city. Through drawings, models, scale models and videos, the young architects imagined solutions for a more livable Naples, with a focus on urban planning, social issues and tourism.
From waste to speech therapy: creativity at the service of the city
Among the most original projects, that of Laura Fiorentino stands out, a student who created a speech therapy game for children with language difficulties, made entirely from recycled materials.
“We recovered jackets from Autostrade per l’Italia that were destined for the landfill and reflective bands,” he explains, “transforming them into a space-based ‘capture the flag’ game, where children learn new words by playing as a team.”
Institutional support
Councilor Paipais has committed to promoting the proposals in the Municipality, underlining:
“Naples is a city of innovation and talent. With the presence of Minister Urso, today we are writing an important page for the future.”
Councillor Chiara Marciani, bringing greetings from the mayor, also reiterated the importance of listening to young people:
“Valuing their ideas could be the key to a more dynamic and competitive Naples.”
An opportunity that demonstrates how academic creativity can translate into concrete solutions, if supported by institutions. Now the ball is in the Municipality's court.

It's wonderful to see young people working for a better Naples, but I hope the projects are taken seriously. There are many interesting and innovative ideas, but a concrete commitment from the institutions is needed to make them happen.
