Naples – The 38th edition of the America's Cup, scheduled to take place in Naples in 2026, will be held in what the Minister for Sport and Youth, Andrea Abode, he called it “the most beautiful place in the world.”
On the sidelines of the press conference to present the event, Abodi praised the Neapolitan city, underlining how the choice fell on Naples not only for its undeniable beauty, but also for its future prospects.
Natural Beauty and Potential of Bagnoli: The Deciding Factors
“We do not want to be offended not only by other nations but especially by other cities that have been visited and evaluated. Naples is truly the most beautiful place in the world where you can have a competition that is the most beautiful in the world, the most fascinating,” Abodi said. The Minister attributed this primacy not only to “places that already exist,” but also to the generosity of “nature and history.”
The decisive factor for the choice, Abodi added, is that in Naples "they chose, as I have already said, not only the present but the future, the future of Bagnoli which is an important piece of the future of Naples, of Campania, of the South. It will certainly be a factor of inspiration for the entire nation".
The decision to host the prestigious sailing competition in Naples, and in particular in Bagnoli, highlights the desire to enhance an area undergoing redevelopment, projecting the city towards a future of development and innovation, with the America's Cup as a driving force for the entire Mezzogiorno.
