In the heart of the province of Salerno, the small village of Caggiano is preparing to host the first edition of the Rarrǝca Caggiano Book Festival, an ambitious project that transforms it into a lively cultural meeting point, connecting people and ideas and giving new life to the community and the territory.

An initiative that stands out in the cultural panorama for more than one reason. Not only does it boldly enter a field usually reserved for larger territorial realities, but it also represents a bridge between two worlds. On one side Caggiano, with its deep roots and local identity; on the other Naples, a city of cultural ferment and literary tradition.

The Rarrǝca Caggiano Book Festival It was born from the vision and collaboration of Simona Cafaro and Francesco Castellucci, active in the area with cultural initiatives, and of Giancarlo Piacci and Marco Raio, writers and referents of the  Ubik bookstore in via Benedetto Croce in Naples. By combining skills and passion, they have created an event that goes beyond a simple literary review. From the fusion of their energies, an event is born that places Caggiano at the center of a cultural project capable of creating connections and transformation.

As the organizers point out, the Rarrǝca Festival It is a point of arrival and departure for those who experience literature in a different way:

“Il Rarrǝca Festival it’s a sort of landing. Adventures with books start when you least expect it, and this time they have overwhelmed the lives of an archipelago of people who have diversified and multiple relationships with books. […] We are talking about encounters, this is the most typical dimension of the relationships that were created before the festival…”

Let's move on to the dates and events that will shape the festival, starting with the imminent preview on May 31st. Luca Persico, aka 'O Zulu, frontman of the 99 Posse, a historic band of the Neapolitan music scene born in 1991. Persico will present his “unauthorized autobiography”, Revolutionary Vocation, and will immediately bring on stage Vio-lenses, a show in which he will translate his texts into music and words, accompanied by the violin of Catherine White.

The lively core of the festival, where it will unleash all its transformative energy, will come to life on July 5 and 6. There will be two days of meetings and dialogues, in which authors with a critical and non-homologated approach to life will explore fundamental themes such as resistance, ecology, recognition, evolution and change. An event that celebrates culture as a force for integration and transformation, capable of giving life to a fruitful encounter between horizons, interpretations and reflections of the authors and artists present.

Even the youngest will have a central role in the Rarrǝca Caggiano Book Festival: workshops, book presentations and exhibitions will be dedicated to them to stimulate a conscious and passionate cultural growth. Francesco Castellucci will tell us he anticipated some very interesting events:

"Sabatino, an artist who expresses himself in the territory, will hold a workshop for children,

to whom the show of the Compagnia del Mantello and some are dedicated

book presentations. In the theatrical field, the Company's laboratory  La Vallée DeL'Egrenne will propose an experiment of improvisation on some texts of bell hooks, not yet translated into Italian. Then there will be the exhibition curated by Narhval Editrice of tables and drawings by Jole Tognelli, also this unpublished. Also the exhibition of Bonelli Editore on Dylan Dog…”

The festival looks to the future of Caggiano and its evolution. With this in mind, the organizers called a public meeting in which opinions, views and suggestions from citizens, associations and partners were collected. It is in fact essential to be able to count on the involvement and enthusiasm of those who live the community on a daily basis.

The Rarrǝca Caggiano Book Festival with its rich program of events and special attention to young people, it promises to be a high-impact experience, capable of mixing tradition and innovation. It is an opportunity to reaffirm a culture that, crossing geographical borders, becomes an instrument of social transformation. This vision is expressed in the words of Francesco Castellucci, one of the organizers: " Rarrǝca, rarr-ca, root… In its literal meaning and in the one assumed in linguistics. Root therefore as an origin that is expressed and nourished in a way that is not at all isolated, that is expressed by feeding itself in communication and interaction with the surrounding environment, with the environment in short, with others.”
