From the television screen of successful national comedy shows (Made in Sud and Colorado) to synth-punk notes and surreal but thoughtful lyrics: Gino Fastidio, an iconic character of national comedy, returns to his first passion and announces his first official album coming in June under the Full Heads label, with the contribution of Nuovo IMAIE and produced by Graf srl.
The single “È gas” is the first to announce the album, available on all digital platforms from today, May 23.
The song
An irreverent and irreverent anthem that transforms the theme of the legalization of soft drugs into a “tutorial song” between satire, provocation and a push for the normalization of the debate.
With his trock style - an explosive mix of punk rock and cabaret - Gino Fastidio signs a piece that neither glorifies nor condemns but plays down the subject with self-irony. The text is a surreal guide to conscious use, a mockery of social hypocrisy and prejudices that still surround certain substances.
“È gas” is a tribute to the Trockati, the tribe of loyal followers who follow the Trocker of Secondigliano in his goliardic crusade against conformism. And while the jokes slide between the rhymes, the song becomes an invocation for the liberalization of cannabis.
In an unpublished behind-the-scenes story Gino Fastidio reveals: “Music was my first obsession, even before comedy.” “I started writing songs, before going on stage to make people laugh” confesses. “But without those notes, maybe I wouldn’t be here today. This album is a debt I’ve wanted to repay for years.”
Gino Fastidio: from a crazy punk trio to a comic singer-songwriter
Born in March 2005 as a crazy discopunk project, Gino Fastidio debuted as a trio with an overwhelming sound and satirical lyrics, capable of making people laugh but also reflect, thanks to what we could define as "a wise stupidity with a punk rhythm". Between 2005 and 2009, the group released three self-productions that cemented their underground reputation: "L'era dello sporchi digitale" (2005), "Odio l'era moderna" (2006) and "Io rifletto" (2009). Raw, irreverent records that conquered an ever-widening audience, transforming Gino Fastidio into a cult phenomenon.
After years of overwhelming live performances and an apprenticeship on improvised stages, however, Gino, the frontman, decides to change course. He approaches cabaret, attending theater workshops, and in 2009 he begins a new solo adventure. Armed with his rosatronic guitar and robotronic keyboard, he becomes a comic singer-songwriter, a hybrid between musician and comedian that will soon reveal itself to be a brilliant intuition. The turning point is a success: he lands on television, conquering programs such as Made in Sud, Colorado, Stasera tutto è possibile and Mad in Italy.
His acid and musical comedy makes him a unique character, capable of switching from a brilliant joke to an irreverent song in the blink of an eye. Today, Gino Fastidio is much more than a comedian or a musician: he is a rebel with a guitar, an artist who has made satire his best weapon. And the road, he seems to say, is still long.
