An Explosive Bridge Between Past and Present
“Nuestro Tiempo” is not just a reworking of the song “Il Nostro Tempo” released by La Scelta at the Sanremo Festival in 2008; it is a musical bomb that defies the times, bringing themes of identity, diversity and coexistence straight into 2023. This Italian-Spanish version, out Friday, May 23 on radio and digital platforms, unites the band with actor and singer Mario Ermito in a duet that does not limit itself to translating words, but charges them with new energy. “The idea of the Italian-Spanish version had been with us for some time – say the members of La Scelta – but we never found the right moment. With Mario everything came naturally. We chose each other even before we started collaborating”.
The Spark of an Unexpected Collaboration
For Mario Ermito, immersed in the Spanish sets, the offer to join the project was like a bolt of lightning that disrupts the routine. Taking part in “Nuestro Tiempo” meant diving into an immediate bond with La Scelta, where voices blend together in a creative chaos that does not allow for half measures. “When Mattia and Francesco asked me to sing Nuestro Tiempo, I was incredulous. I accepted immediately, excited. During a live rehearsal, the chemistry was immediate: our voices complemented each other”. And that's not all: the couple is already working on Ermito's first album, turning this alliance into a real challenge to musical conventions.
A Rebel Anthem Against Borders
Pouring Italian and Spanish into a single boiling pot, “Nuestro Tiempo” becomes a cry of rebellion against cultural barriers, with verses that paint a humanity adrift between roots and migrations. Phrases like **“I feel like a metropolitan African / With new oriental eyes and a heart that will leave / My home is a plateau in the center of Milan / And I feel human”** not only break down walls, but slap those who still see diversity as a threat. The unbridled rhythm and the intertwined voices of Mattia Del Forno and Mario Ermito transform the song into a sound manifesto, where the encounter is not a luxury, but an urgent necessity.
