Naples – He was hiding inside a camper parked near an airport area, but was tracked down and arrested by the Police of State.
A 41-year-old Neapolitan man was arrested, the recipient of an execution order for concurrent sentences issued last February 19 by the Attorney General's Office at the Court of Appeal of Rome.
The man, already sentenced to 18 years, 5 months and 18 days in prison for drug trafficking-related crimes, had also been banned from holding public office in perpetuity.
He was serving his sentence under house arrest at a therapeutic community in Taranto, but last February, after having obtained two permits for medical checks at a clinic in Naples, he had not returned to the facility, making himself untraceable.
The investigations, conducted by the Naples Flying Squad, allowed him to be located in a camper parked in a parking lot near the airport, where he had taken refuge to evade capture. The agents intervened just as the 41-year-old was about to drive away on board a minivan driven by an accomplice.
Both were stopped: the driver and the managers of the rest area were reported for procuring non-compliance with a sentence. During the operation, the fugitive was also found in possession of false identity documents, which are being investigated to identify any other supporters.
