Naples is preparing to write a new page of sport and civic pride: in 2026 it will be the European Capital of Sport and, to celebrate this prestigious recognition, it will host the inaugural match of the European Men's Volleyball Championship. Not in just any sports hall, but in one of the most iconic places on the continent: Piazza del Plebiscito.
The announcement comes directly from the mayor Gaetano Manfredi, who through a post on social media defined the event as a “a double milestone that celebrates the strength of sport and the identity of the city”. A result achieved thanks to teamwork between institutions and sports organizations, which brought Naples back to the center of the international scene.
The choice of piazza del Plebiscito It is not a coincidence: a symbol of culture, beauty and belonging that will become for one evening the ideal arena where sport and entertainment will merge under the eyes of Europe. For Naples it is a confirmation: not only the emotional capital of the South, but the beating heart of sport that knows how to unite, involve and relaunch its name in great style.
