Naples celebrates and soars, even in numbers. The Scudetto weekend has not only painted the streets blue, but has transformed the city into a fully-fledged tourist engine. According to official data from the Municipality's Tourism Observatory, the presences recorded in the city between Friday and Sunday were 670 thousand, well beyond the 500 initially forecast. A result that is not only surprising, but historic.
The celebration of Napoli's fourth tricolor turned out to be much more than a sporting event: it was a very powerful magnet, capable of attracting people from every corner of Italy and the world, transforming the city into a gigantic stage of celebration and pride. The hotels were sold out, with an occupancy rate that almost reached 100% on the key nights, from Friday to Sunday.
The attendance saw a clear prevalence of Italian visitors, in particular from Lazio, Lombardy, Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna, but the foreign component was also very strong, with the United Kingdom in the lead, followed by France, Spain, Germany, the United States and Switzerland. An international mix that walked through the alleys, invaded the seafront, filled bars and restaurants, contributing decisively to the city's economy.
"Naples is experiencing a season of extraordinary energy and attractiveness", commented the Tourism Councillor Teresa Armato, emphasizing how the Scudetto was also a perfect postcard to the world. "The city is alive, welcoming, capable of organizing major events and telling a new identity, modern but rooted. This tourist boom confirms that Naples is now a protagonist on the national and international level".
