Naples – The State Police have handcuffed a 43-year-old Neapolitan with a criminal record, believed to be responsible for a robbery committed in a bar. The man was reached and stopped in the Traiano district, a few hours after the robbery.
On Tuesday morning, officers from the Pianura Police Station and the Bagnoli Police Station intervened following a report of a robbery in a commercial establishment. A man, after committing the theft, fled in a car. Immediate searches allowed them to intercept the reported vehicle in Viale Traiano.
Caught by cameras at robbed bar
At the sight of the officers, the driver attempted a sudden maneuver to avoid control, but was promptly stopped. Subsequent investigations, based on the descriptions provided and on viewing the images from the bar's video surveillance systems, dispelled all doubt: the man stopped was the perpetrator of the robbery.
According to the investigators' reconstruction, the 43-year-old, armed with a knife, had stolen a cell phone inside the premises. During the search, the man was found in possession of a package containing cocaine, and two kitchen knives of considerable size (30 and 19 centimeters) were found inside his car.
Not only that: without documents, the robber provided the officers with false personal details, an attempt unmasked by subsequent checks. The Judicial Authority, after validating the arrest, ordered the 43-year-old to be held in prison.
In addition to the arrest for aggravated improper robbery, the man was reported for false attestation to a public official and administratively sanctioned for possession of narcotics for personal use. The operation of the State Police brought a dangerous individual to justice, re-establishing safety in the area affected by the robbery.
