Sorrento – The prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, has ordered the suspension from office of the mayor of Sorrento, Massimo Coppola, following the order issued by the GIP of the Court of Torre Annunziata which has ordered his remand in prison.
The measure, as explained by the Prefecture, was adopted in accordance with the current legislation on local authorities, which provides for the automatic suspension of administrators subjected to restrictive measures on personal freedom.
Pending judicial developments, the top management of the municipal administration will be assumed by Deputy Mayor Paolo Pane, who will replace Coppola to ensure the administrative continuity of the institution.
