Naples, over 20 thousand counterfeit items seized in Corso Umberto and 6 people reported

Naples – Major operation against illegal street vendors and the trade of counterfeit products in the heart of the city.

In recent days, soldiers from the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza and agents from the Naples Local Police have carried out a series of targeted checks between Corso Umberto and the alleys of the Rione Lavinaio, an area that has long been reported as the epicentre of the phenomenon.

The joint operation resulted in the seizure of over 20,000 items, including counterfeit goods, uncertified products, and contraband tobacco. Specifically, the Local Police carried out eight administrative seizures against unauthorized street vendors, for a total of approximately 2.500 items, including hats, glasses, electronic accessories, and various other items.

In the fight against counterfeiting, the "green berets" of the Guardia di Finanza 's Rapid Response Unit seized over 10,000 items of clothing and accessories bearing fake brands from well-known brands. As part of the operation, three non-EU citizens were reported for illegal trade in counterfeit products.

Also during the checks, 2 other non-EU citizens were reported for selling toys without safety certifications, considered potentially dangerous for the health of minors. The toys, seized by the Guardia di Finanza, were over 8 thousand pieces.

 19 kilograms of cigarettes also seized in the Lavinaio district

The operation also involved the parallel tobacco market: in the Rione Lavinaio, the financial police seized 19 kilos of contraband cigarettes, sanctioning an Italian citizen considered responsible for the illicit sale.

The joint action of the police forces is part of a broader plan to combat widespread illegality, with the aim of protecting public health, guaranteeing consumer safety and safeguarding regular trade.
