Naples – A well-organized network of false employment contracts, aimed at promoting illegal immigration to Italy, was dismantled by the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Livorno with the support of the Labor Inspectorate and the territorial units of Naples and Grosseto.
The operation, which began in the early hours of this morning, led to the execution of five precautionary measures of house arrest - four in the Campania capital and one in Grosseto - against individuals all originally from the Naples area.
The defendants are accused, to varying degrees, of aggravated aiding and abettingclandestine immigration, impersonation and falsification of documents. The orders were issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Livorno at the request of the local Public Prosecutor's Office, at the end of an investigation started in June 2024 by the Livorno Investigative Unit, following a report from the Prefecture.
The authorities had become suspicious of the anomalous number of requests for regularization for non-EU seasonal workers, apparently submitted by local companies through the portal dedicated to the "flow decree".
In the province of Naples the “work center”
The investigations revealed the existence, in the Naples area, of a real illegal "work center": a clandestine operations center, comparable to an irregular CAF, which produced a series of false applications to allow the illegal entry of foreign citizens.
The documentation – falsified and registered to unsuspecting legal representatives – concerned hundreds of companies, 24 of which were active in the province of Livorno alone. During a search carried out in November 2024, precisely on the days of the so-called “click day” for the electronic submission of job applications, the Carabinieri seized dozens of digital devices, counterfeit stamps of public bodies and professionals, hundreds of false identity documents and a large quantity of paper and computer material artfully created.
According to investigators, the intervention has blocked the submission of tens of thousands of illegitimate requests for entry to territorial government offices throughout Italy, preventing a possible mass influx of irregular workers.
The investigation continues to clarify the exact number of fraud attempts and to identify any additional accomplices involved in the network.
