The news in brief
- Road piracy In Naples, a family was hit by a black car that fled the scene, leaving a mother and daughter injured.
- Institutional criticism: MP Borrelli denounces the inefficiency in the incident identification and calls for investments to improve the checks and rescue operations.
UA new incident of hit-and-run driving has shaken Naples, leaving a family in grief and anger over yet another escape by an irresponsible driver.
The incident was reported by a citizen whose wife and daughter were hit by a car while riding a scooter to university.
It all happened along Via Vicinale Cupa Cintia, at the intersection with Via Terracina. "My wife and daughter were on their way to college when they were hit by a small black car driven by a girl," the father said.
"The car turned without seeing them, hit them, and disappeared without stopping. It left them on the asphalt, injured and helpless."
Despite the emergency call, no patrol arrived. Only the ambulance transported the two women to the Ospedale del Mare, where doctors confirmed their serious injuries: head trauma and a cervical hematoma for the mother, dislocated wrist and elbow for the daughter, as well as numerous abrasions. Had they not been wearing helmets, the consequences could have been even more dramatic.
The complaint and the bitter reality
The family filed a police report, but hopes of identifying the perpetrator are already faint. "The officers told us it will be almost impossible to track her down through the cameras," the citizen explains. "They often don't work or are used for other purposes."
Anger grows in the face of the absurdity of the situation: «In 2025, after a accident With injuries, no patrol car arrives. And meanwhile, those who sowed panic continue to drive freely, perhaps without insurance or even without a license.
Borrelli's speech: "Justice is impossible."
Green-Left Alliance MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli harshly addressed the matter: "We are faced with yet another intolerable case. Two people risked their lives because of a criminal, and now they must also suffer the humiliation of seeing all hope of justice vanish."
"It's extremely serious that, despite the available technology, there's no effective system for identifying hit-and-run drivers," Borrelli continues. "Cameras should serve security purposes, not just bureaucratic purposes. Every escape is a danger for everyone."
The MP appeals to the authorities: "We ask the City of Naples to invest in timely checks and rescue operations. We cannot allow tragedies like this to be forgotten." Meanwhile, mother and daughter are working on their recovery, while the hit-and-run driver is still at large, somewhere, perhaps ready to strike again.

What happened in Naples is truly unacceptable. It's incredible that the patrols didn't arrive and that the person responsible is still at large. We must do something to improve road safety and help those in need.
