Sant'Egidio del Monte Albino – An operation by the Carabinieri led to the seizure of five terraces used for growing marijuana in the wooded area of the Lattari Mountains, in the municipality of Sant'Egidio del Monte Albino.
The military personnel of the Operational Section of the NORM (Operational and Radiomobile Nucleus) of the Territorial Department of Nocera Inferiore, with the support of the VII Helicopter Nucleus of Pontecagnano, identified the suspicious area after monitoring the territory.
The terraces, equipped with irrigation and weed-killing systems, contained 87 marijuana plants already grown, ready to be harvested and released into the illegal market.
The operation is part of a broader campaign to combat the production and dealing of narcotics in the Agro nocerino-sarnese area, where the Carabinieri are stepping up controls to dismantle illicit drug-related activities.
At the moment, those responsible for the cultivation have not been identified, but investigations are continuing to trace the criminal network that managed the trafficking.
The operation confirms the commitment of law enforcement in fighting drug trafficking, also through the use of advanced technologies and air patrols.
