Roma – New twist in the case of the fraud and robbery against Gemma Bracco, 80-year-old poet and wife of former minister Paolo Baratta.
Police arrested a man living in the hinterland of Napoli, believed to be an accomplice in the robbery carried out last February in Rome, which yielded a haul of around 3 million euros in cash, jewellery and gold bars.
The first arrest took place in February, when the agents of the Flying Squad, coordinated by the deputy prosecutor Giovanni Conzo, had identified one of the alleged perpetrators thanks to the images from the video surveillance systems of the building where the crime took place.
The two criminals, pretending to be a marshal and a lawyer, had deceived the victim, transforming the scam into a home robbery. The arrest of the accomplice, which occurred in the last hours, marks a further step forward in the investigations, which continue to clarify any other possible involvements.
