Via Toledo is preparing to change its skin. After years of waiting and bureaucratic problems, the City Council has given the green light to the executive project for the extraordinary maintenance of the section between Piazza Carità and Piazza Trieste e Trento, the beating heart of the city and a crossroads of tourism, commerce and culture. The project is financed with over 3,2 million euros coming from the Strategic Plan of the Metropolitan City.
Mayor Gaetano Manfredi illustrated the project, underlining the strategic importance of the intervention for safety and urban livability, with a direct reference to the symbolic and functional value of the road, crossed every day by thousands of people. The restyling will involve the lava stone sidewalks, today deteriorated and dangerous, and provides for a thousand day schedule with rotating construction sites so as to never completely block traffic, either on foot or for service vehicles.
The Councilor for Infrastructure Edoardo Cosenza defines the intervention as "necessary and can no longer be postponed", explaining that the tender will be published by August, with work scheduled to begin in November 2025The restyling of Via Toledo is part of a broader plan to care for the city's streets, in an attempt to restore decorum, functionality and urban pride to Naples, starting with one of its most identifying symbols.
