Escape in an SUV through traffic, five arrested after the chase

A routine patrol turned into a high-voltage chase on the evening of Friday, May 22nd, between Caserta and Capodrise. A patrol from the Caserta Carabinieri Mobile Radio Unit intercepted an Audi RS SUV on Viale Carlo III di Borbone , deemed suspicious due to its fast speed and some maneuvers considered dangerous.

According to the military's reconstruction, the driver of the vehicle did not stop at the police's command, suddenly accelerating and fleeing through several city streets.

The chase up to Capodrise

During the chase, the car allegedly overtook recklessly and made maneuvers that put other drivers at risk. The Carabinieri, maintaining visual contact with the vehicle and operating safely, followed the SUV to the Capodrise area.
Once they reached Viale Europa, the five occupants of the vehicle abandoned the car and attempted to flee on foot through the surrounding streets.

The search device and the arrest of the five men

A search operation was immediately activated, involving the Carabinieri of the San Nicola la Strada station and personnel from the Marcianise Company.
After a few minutes of searching the surrounding areas, all five fugitives were tracked down and arrested.

During the operations, according to what was reported by the Carabinieri, the men resisted in an attempt to avoid arrest.

Those arrested include a 25-year-old resident of the Secondigliano area, a 20-year-old resident of Castel Volturno, a 44-year-old homeless Serbian citizen, a 47-year-old also resident of the Secondigliano area, and another 25-year-old resident in the northern area of ​​Naples.

Burglary tools and counterfeit devices seized

Subsequent personal and vehicle searches allowed the police to seize numerous tools believed to be compatible with burglary, including hoses, crowbars, screwdrivers, sledgehammers, and work gloves.
A counterfeit paddle similar to those used by the police was also found inside the vehicle.
Investigations into the Audi revealed that the license plate attached to the vehicle was stolen and associated with another car, while the SUV's original foreign license plate was found inside the passenger compartment.
According to the investigations, the vehicle was also equipped with light and sound devices similar to those used by law enforcement, which were apparently activated during the escape to facilitate passage through traffic.

All the material found, together with the vehicle, was seized by order of the judicial authorities.
The five men were arrested red-handed on charges of various kinds, including assault and resisting a public official, receiving stolen goods, money laundering, carrying objects capable of causing offence, possession of counterfeit trademarks, and unauthorized possession of altered keys or lock picks.
Following the formal procedures, the detainees were transferred to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison, where they remain at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
