The fight against environmental crimes has brought another blow to the province of Caserta, refocusing attention on land protection in the sensitive Terra dei Fuochi area. During the night between June 9th and 10th, Carabinieri officers from the San Prisco station conducted a targeted raid in the municipality of Curti, identifying a mechanical workshop operating in complete disregard of regulations and without the required legal permits.

The operation was launched in the city center as part of a targeted field inspection. Within the premises, the Carabinieri discovered a business dedicated to the repair and management of electric bicycles, conducted in a manner completely inconsistent with current regulations. During structural inspections, law enforcement officers discovered an accumulation of hazardous and special waste resulting from the maintenance of eco-friendly vehicles, stored and managed without any compliance with environmental disposal regulations. Immediate investigations led to the direct responsibility for managing the business being attributed to a sixty-one-year-old man residing in the Caserta municipality.

Following the serious irregularities found within the inspection perimeter, the man was reported at large to the Judicial Authorities and will face charges related to unauthorized waste management. Concurrently with the indictment, the Carabinieri proceeded with the precautionary seizure of the entire affected area, covering approximately thirty square meters, also sealing off twenty electric bicycles, including pedal-assisted bicycles and scooters, found inside the illegal structure and believed to be directly related to the illegal activity. The Carabinieri are now continuing their investigation to verify any further responsibilities and to precisely determine the origin of all the materials found during the nighttime check.
