Naples, the Carabinieri look to the future: "Technology and proximity, our challenge."

Naples – Two hundred and twelve years is no ordinary milestone, but for the Carabinieri, it is above all an opportunity to reaffirm an age-old pact: the one with the country. Naples celebrated its founding anniversary today with a civil and military liturgy that combined memory, sacrifice, and a clear vision of the future.

The day began in the silence of the Basilica of Santa Chiara, where a cushion of flowers was placed on the tomb of Vice Brigadier Salvo D'Acquisto, Gold Medal for Military Valor and Venerable Servant of God. A measured gesture, it reminded everyone that courage and a spirit of sacrifice are the foundation upon which the Institution continues to build its credibility. Immediately afterward, a laurel wreath was laid to honor the fallen of the Campania Legion at the Command Shrine.

The operational and symbolic heart of the anniversary then moved to the courtyard of the historic "Vittoria" barracks, headquarters of the "Ogaden" Interregional Command. There, before the highest civil, religious, and judicial authorities, the military ceremony took place. Under the gaze of Lieutenant General Nicola Massimo Masciulli, Interregional Commander, and the Commander of the "Campania" Legion, honors were paid to the Gonfalon of the City of Naples—decorated with the Gold Medal and the Gold Cross of Merit of the Corps—and to the War Flag of the 10th Campania Carabinieri Regiment.

But it was General Masciulli's speech that transformed the parade into a manifesto. "The Corps aims to be an institution fully committed to modernity, while maintaining its identity intact," he emphasized. "We will use technology not to replace people, but to enhance the effectiveness of our work, preserving the heart of our mission: the connection with communities through our Stations."

Masciulli then outlined the direction: "We are rethinking our organizational strategies so that innovation can lead to a true cultural renewal, freeing up resources for prevention, territorial control, and concrete support for citizens." These words come at a time when widespread presence and the ability to listen are being challenged by reduced staffing and an increasingly complex demand for security.

The event thus concluded, reflecting the image of a force that isn't content to simply celebrate the past, but intends to use it as a platform for a new balance between tradition and innovation. As it has done for 212 years, patrolling every street and square in the country.
