Pegasus investigation: Bernini cooperates with the Prosecutor's Office
"I personally collaborated with the Naples prosecutor's office on a matter involving a portion of the online universities, for which we will request the acquisition of documents. It will be important to understand the investigations conducted by the prosecutor's office before we can take action." This was stated by Minister of Universities and Research Anna Maria Bernini at a press conference at Palazzo Chigi regarding the Naples prosecutor's office's investigation into the Pegaso online university for alleged irregular enrollment.
An investigation that sees 40 people under investigation, including former owner Danilo Iervolino and former Multiversity COO Andrea Buonomo.
"One of the goals of the ministry and the government," the minister explained, "is to ensure that no shadows remain over any form of university service delivery. For us, there's no distinction between in-person and remote learning, but the educational offering must be good: anything that can shed light on this is welcome," she concluded.
"We thank the Prosecutor's Office for its efforts and have made everything we had available. We will request the results of their investigations so we can take appropriate action," he added.
"I personally collaborated, along with the entire Ministry I am honored to serve, with the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office, whom I thank, for the work they are doing on a portion of online universities. We will request the acquisition of documents for these. This will obviously be very important for us to verify the investigations carried out by the Office of the Prosecutor and will be useful for us to be able to take appropriate action, even though we obviously do not have the powers of a Public Prosecutor's Office," he reiterated during the press conference following the Council of Ministers meeting at Palazzo Chigi.
