Apple announces September 9th event: iPhone 18 Pro and first foldable phone on the way

The Cupertino giant will unveil the new iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max on September 9, along with its first foldable smartphone, in an event that also marks the debut of new CEO John Ternus.

Apple has officially announced the date of its fall event for September 9th, during which it will unveil the highly anticipated iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, as well as its first foldable smartphone. The event, scheduled for 7:00 PM ET, represents a crucial moment for the Cupertino company as it prepares to challenge competitors in the foldable device market, dominated by brands like Samsung, Motorola, and Huawei.

The launch will also mark the public debut of John Ternus as CEO, a role he will officially assume on September 1, while Tim Cook will transition to the role of executive chairman.

Analysts predict that Apple will initially focus on the Pro models, postponing the release of the base iPhone 18 until later, likely due to supply challenges for key components like RAM. The new iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to offer more powerful processors, improved battery life, and superior cameras, with potential innovations such as a mechanical aperture for the Pro Max model, which could bring smartphone photography closer to that of professional cameras.

Updates for the Apple Watch line and new software features are also included, completing the offering planned for the “Surprise and Shine” event.

Anticipation is high to see how Apple intends to consolidate its position in an increasingly competitive and technologically challenging market.
