Pozzuoli – A serial fraudster opened postal accounts with fake documents: he was discovered by post office employees, who alerted the Carabinieri and had him arrested.
The protagonist of the case is a 39-year-old Neapolitan, resident in Arcore but domiciled in Pozzuoli, who over a month ago crossed the threshold of the Arco Felice post office and within two days opened two bank accounts with falsified documents.
At the beginning of August, the victim opened his first bank account, presenting an electronic identity card with his photo. His personal details included a different name, surname, and date of birth, as well as a residence in Pomezia.
The first operation having been successful, the man tried again.
Same procedures but different documents and, above all, a different employee at the counter to welcome you.
And so he gets away with it once again.
On August 26th, the 39-year-old returned to the scene of the crime for the third time. The post office doors opened, but this time he found the two employees who had—on separate days—activated his two bank accounts.
It took just a few seconds to understand that he had been recognized, given that his physical appearance had not gone unnoticed (he was 80 meters tall, well-built, with a dark complexion).
The 39-year-old then walks away without saying anything, and the two employees confront each other. The bank's director, understanding the situation, activates the anti-fraud protocol and immediately blocks the two bank accounts.
Yesterday, the story came to a head: the man went to the post office to complain about the frozen bank accounts and demanded an explanation. The manager stalled and called 112. A few minutes later, a patrol car from the Pozzuoli Carabinieri station arrived on the scene. The man was stopped and arrested.
In his pockets, he had the counterfeit documents for the first account opened in early August. The officers reconstructed the incident and discovered that the 39-year-old had arrived at the post office on a scooter. In the glove compartment of the Honda SH, they found the counterfeit documents for the second bank account.
The Carabinieri also discovered that the license plate of the motorcycle he was riding had been cloned and turned out to be another Sh. This was a way to conceal the administrative seizure of the scooter and also to conceal his movements.
The 39-year-old was jailed on charges of possession of false documents, use of a false document, and impersonation.
