Panic at the White Night in Secondigliano: a woman lies in the crowd

It was supposed to be a festive evening, with the streets of Secondigliano enlivened by the traditional Notte Bianca (White Night), shops staying open late, and hundreds of people, including many families with children, strolling through the neighborhood. Instead, the demonstration quickly turned into a scene of terror.

During the night, unknown individuals fired several shots in the street, causing a stampede among those present. People sought shelter in shops and businesses that were still open, while the alarm was immediately raised with the police.

Fortunately, no one was injured. Investigators found three shell casings at the scene, which are now being examined by specialists to reconstruct the events and identify those responsible.

Investigations into the incident are underway

The investigation has been entrusted to law enforcement, who are acquiring images from video surveillance systems in the area and collecting testimonies from those present.

The incident refocuses attention on the phenomenon of so-called "stese" (steses) and armed intimidation, which, although less frequent than in the past thanks to the state's intense investigative and repressive activity, continue to pose a serious social alarm in the metropolitan area's most complex neighborhoods.

Shooting in a crowded street during a public event is indeed an extremely serious act, capable of putting innocent lives at risk and fueling a climate of fear among those who simply want to live in their neighborhood.

The prefect's intervention

The Prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, took a very strong stance, expressing his closeness to the community and reiterating the need to strengthen social "antibodies" against all forms of violence.

The Government representative thanked the judiciary and the police forces for their daily work in ensuring safety, extending the recognition also to associations, parishes, schools, the third sector, local authorities and all those entities that work every day for the civil and social growth of the territory.

According to the prefect, it is precisely this network of institutions and citizens that represents the most valuable asset for fighting crime and strengthening the sense of community.

Extraordinary checks and Safety Committee

Following the incident, the prefect has ordered the activation of extraordinary and targeted territorial control services in Secondigliano, with an increased police presence in the coming hours.

A meeting of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety has also been called for Monday at 12:30 p.m., during which the measures already adopted will be reviewed and further initiatives will be considered to ensure greater safety for residents and prevent further incidents of violence.

In his closing message, Michele di Bari emphasized how the "vast majority of decent people" represent the true strength of the Secondigliano community and the entire Neapolitan region, reiterating that only through collaboration between institutions and civil society will it be possible to build an increasingly safe, cohesive city capable of rejecting the culture of violence.
