Naples: Baby born with cerebral palsy receives massive compensation for parents
Salerno – A story of pain, hope, and rebirth comes from the Salerno area. After thirteen years marked by tragic pregnancies, Raffaele Salvati and Ewa Jankowska were finally able to hold their baby in their arms. Little Andrea Maria Salvati, weighing 3,260 kilograms, was born on July 9th at the Istituto Clinico Mediterraneo in Agropoli, giving his parents the happy ending they had been searching for for over a decade.
The couple's journey has been marked by devastating losses. Thirteen years ago, their first child died in the womb at 35 weeks gestation. Another tragedy struck in 2024, when their twin pregnancy ended with the loss of both babies at 32 weeks.
The new pregnancy was monitored with particular attention by doctor Mario Polichetti, who accompanied the couple along an extremely delicate clinical journey.
Thanks to constant monitoring and careful management of the pregnancy, little Andrea Maria was born in good conditions, transforming what seemed to be a story marked by destiny into a testimony of hope.
"Every birth brings with it a unique emotional charge, but the coming into the world of Andrea Maria represents something extraordinary," declared Mario Polichetti.
"Accompanying Raffaele and Ewa on this extremely high-risk journey to a happy ending was a professional duty and an enormous human privilege," added the doctor, emphasizing the human as well as professional value of a story that profoundly affected the entire healthcare team.
