Air Campania's school plan kicks off: 4.200 trips per day for the 2026/2027 school year.

Starting Tuesday, September 15, 2026, coinciding with the start of classes established by the regional school calendar, the "open schools" plan of Air Campania, the local public transport company wholly owned by the Campania Region, will go into effect. The program developed by the company provides a total of 4.200 daily trips, of which more than 1.500 are dedicated to school transport.

The words of the sole director

"The start of the school year represents one of the busiest periods for local public transportation," said Air Campania's CEO, Anthony Acconcia. He explained that the plan was developed "in synergy with the Region and in consultation with the Vice President for Transport, Mario Casillo, to adapt services at the regional level to the needs of local communities, workers, teaching staff, and students," with the goal of ensuring "a service as close to the citizens as possible."
The program, the company specified, takes into account the recommendations received from local authorities and institutions, the specificities of different areas, and the entry and exit times of students from schools.

Avellino, increased runs towards the internal areas

In the province of Avellino, bus services have been increased with more than 600 daily trips connecting the local municipalities to the capital and the main schools. Shuttle services from the Via Fariello bus station to the city's schools remain guaranteed.

Implementations are also planned for the hinterland and inland areas, particularly in the municipalities of Lioni, Montella, and Sant'Angelo dei Lombardi, where Air Campania will monitor traffic conditions in the coming days. Connections to the universities of Benevento, Caserta, and Fisciano have been confirmed and will be further strengthened from the end of September, when university courses begin.

Benevento and Caserta, plans revised with the municipalities

In Benevento, where Air Campania has also been managing urban transport since August 1st, the operating plan has been revised in conjunction with the municipal administration and includes 500 daily trips, with an increase in school services to meet the increased demand for mobility following the resumption of classes. Suburban connections on the main routes connecting the inland areas to the schools in the capital have also been strengthened.

The plan for the city of Caserta has also been adapted to the resumption of educational activities: 350 daily trips, with dedicated stops near schools and universities. Connections to the surrounding areas have been strengthened, and trips from the Domitian coast to the Federico II highway are guaranteed. Further improvements are planned for the Aversa countryside.

From the province of Caserta, in particular, the Prata Sannita-Letino-Isernia services for the Art Institute and the Fascitelli High School remain guaranteed, as do connections from Calvi to Venafro for the A. Giordano Comprehensive Institute and from Calvi to Cassino, with stops at the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio and the San Raffaele Hospital.

Naples, Salerno and extra-regional connections

In the Naples metropolitan area, there are 80 daily trips dedicated to schools and universities, while in the Salerno area the number rises to 60, with connections to the Fisciano-Lancusi campus and the Federico II University Hospital of Naples.

Air Campania's plan also includes the extra-regional connections Avellino-Caianello-Rome, Naples-Campobasso, Naples-Avellino-Foggia, and Salerno-Avellino-Benevento-Campobasso, which are already active today, with the service expected to be fully operational starting tomorrow.
