Eboli, elderly man injured in jugular vein during argument: neighbor under investigation

Salerno – An 81-year-old man was stabbed in the jugular vein on the afternoon of Monday, September 14, in Eboli, in the province of Salerno. According to an initial reconstruction by the Carabinieri, the attack was based on trivial motives related to a dispute between neighbors.

The victim, a pensioner living in the Prato area, presented to the emergency room of Eboli hospital with a throat wound and blood stabbed with a rag. He told medical staff that his neighbor had attacked him with a knife.

After the attack, the alleged perpetrator allegedly took the elderly man's car and drove him to the hospital, then fled before law enforcement arrived. The Eboli Carabinieri responded to the scene and are gathering evidence to clarify the exact circumstances and motive behind the attack.

The young man has been identified by investigators and his status is now being examined by the judicial authorities. The elderly man, alert but suffering, underwent emergency tests and treatment; his condition remains confidential.
