Cumana Railway
Naples – The Cumana line is back in operation along its entire route. This morning, rail service resumed along the entire route between Montesanto and Torregaveta, once again ensuring a direct and continuous connection between the Neapolitan capital and the Phlegraean Fields.
The reopening of the Bagnoli-Torregaveta line, which had been blocked since July 31st due to bradyseismic phenomena affecting the area, was made possible thanks to the completion of safety measures in the Monte Olibano tunnel. The restoration of service restores a key hub for the daily mobility of thousands of commuters, workers, and students.
The day also marks a double milestone for the network managed by EAV: at the same time as the restart of trains, the new Pozzuoli station, located on Via Fasano, also officially opened to the public.
"It's a small step, but it was a necessary gesture towards this area and towards those who travel on the Cumana line every day," commented Mario Casillo, Vice President of the Campania Region with responsibility for Transport. "Our goal is to gradually restore full functionality of the connections in the Phlegraean Fields area to guarantee essential services to citizens. The reopening of the line and the opening of the new Pozzolana station are a step in this direction."
