Myth becomes reality: Domenico Sepe wins at Villa Doria d'Angri

Domenico Sepe's solo exhibition, Myth, Form, Revelation, has opened in the monumental spaces of Villa Doria d'Angri (Parthenope University). The exhibition features bronze, aluminum, and installations that engage with the Villa's historical memory.

Domenico Sepe's solo exhibition "Myth, Form, Revelation" opened to a large audience in the monumental spaces of Villa Doria d'Angri, home of the Parthenope University of Naples. Curated by Ferdinando Sorrentino, the exhibition transforms one of Naples' most important historic buildings into a place of encounter between the memory of antiquity and the anxieties of the contemporary.

The bronze and aluminum works become instruments of a research that prioritizes materiality as a way to think about the present: form becomes symbol, question, and narrative. The choice of Villa Doria d'Angri as a setting is an essential part of the project, with the sculptures establishing a dialogue with the architecture through light, proportion, and material.

The inauguration was attended, among others, by Maria Luisa Iavarone, president of ARTUR, and Professor Umberto Franzese, who presented a reflection on "The Beauty of Beauty" and the role of beauty in contemporary art. The exhibition includes bronze and aluminum sculptures, photographic prints of the works, and site-specific installations designed for the Villa's spaces.

Upcoming events will feature students from the University of Naples Parthenope, with sessions dedicated to contemporary sculpture, materials, and creative processes, as well as guided tours led by the artist and curator, and opportunities for dialogue with the cultural and academic community. The exhibition is promoted by the University of Naples Parthenope and supported by the Non Me Ne Vado Cultural Association, the Naples Biennale, Dama Daphne Museum Art, Sud Avicola, and ARTUR.

Domenico Sepe's works invite a thought that goes beyond matter, reminding us that sculpture can indicate what remains to be understood.
