Naples: A father intervenes to defend his daughter in Piazza Vanvitelli and is injured.

Two violent incidents marked the night in Naples, between Vomero and the historic center. In Piazza Vanvitelli, a man was injured after intervening in an argument involving his daughter. In the alleys near Piazza Dante, a 16-year-old boy was stabbed in the back.

The fight in Piazza Vanvitelli

According to initial reports, the man intervened after an altercation between his daughter and a young man. The argument then degenerated into a fight, in which other people also participated. During the heated exchange, the father's leg ended up under a garbage truck.
The dynamics are still being investigated.

The Carabinieri intervened on the scene, collected witness statements and are also checking the images from the surveillance cameras.

The 16-year-old was injured near Piazza Dante.

That same night, a sixteen-year-old was stabbed in the back in one of the alleys near Piazza Dante. The boy reported to police that he had been stabbed from behind by an unknown assailant. After receiving treatment at Vecchio Pellegrini Hospital, he was released; investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances and identify the perpetrator.

The checks announced by the Prefecture

Following the minor's injury, the Prefect of Naples, Michele Di Bari, has ordered further intensified patrols throughout the area. Services will be reinforced, especially during nightlife hours, with the aim of increasing the police presence and combating crime and petty crime.

The incident will also be examined at the next meeting of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety, convened to review the situation and coordinate subsequent operational strategies.

The request of Green Europe

Avs MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli and Nelide Milano, a member of the Europa Verde National Federal Council, welcomed the strengthening of the red zones announced by the prefect, but called on the government to allocate more resources, officers, and equipment to Naples.

"Correlling off risk areas and implementing specific measures is undoubtedly useful, but effective and constant monitoring is needed," they state. According to Borrelli and Milano, without continuous local control, the red zones risk remaining "just a slogan." The two representatives also call for strengthening law enforcement personnel, rather than—they argue—closing barracks and police stations.
