Naples signs a protocol between the Metropolitan City and the Army to promote the region, sports, and culture.

An agreement between the Metropolitan City of Naples and the Italian Army opens a phase of joint initiatives to support youth, inclusion, historical heritage, and sports promotion in the metropolitan area.

Naples – A Memorandum of Understanding between the Metropolitan City of Naples and the Italian Army was signed today in the Metropolitan Council Hall of Santa Maria la Nova. The document was signed by Mayor Gaetano Manfredi and Lieutenant General Andrea Di Stasio, Commander of the Southern Territorial Division, pursuant to Article 15 of Law 241/1990.

The Memorandum aims to implement joint initiatives to promote and enhance the metropolitan area and its historical, cultural, landscape, and environmental heritage, including through sporting, cultural, educational, and social events. The objectives include disseminating the values of legality, active citizenship, and the culture of defense, and promoting sport as a tool for health and inclusion, with particular attention to young people, people with disabilities, and vulnerable groups.

The planned activities encompass a variety of aspects: from organizing events and celebrations to enhancing and using facilities of historical and cultural interest; from promoting cultural and sports tourism to educational programs for schools. The agreement will be managed by a permanent working group, composed of representatives designated by the two parties, and governed by specific implementing agreements.

In his speech, Di Stasio emphasized that the signing of the protocol represents a symbol of a shared vision: institutions collaborating and pooling their energies and expertise to enhance the historical, cultural, and landscape heritage. Among concrete actions, the Southern Territorial Command plans to open historic sites, such as the Albricci Military Stadium and the Palazzo Salerno Historical Library, for cultural and educational initiatives.

Following the ceremony, Manfredi and Di Stasio visited the Metropolitan City's Art Collection, accompanied by Deputy Mayor Giuseppe Cirillo, Director General Davide Leonardi, and Chief of Staff Raffaele Chianese. The agreement establishes a framework for lasting collaboration to promote heritage and enhance the metropolitan area, with constant attention to spaces and opportunities for community engagement.
