Villaricca, escape after drug raid: 18-year-old from Scampia arrested, purse containing cocaine and cash recovered

Villaricca – A rental car, a nighttime drug dealing operation that, according to the Carabinieri, was interrupted by the arrival of the officers. This is the scene of the operation in Villaricca, where an 18-year-old from Scampia was arrested on charges of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.

Gabriele Balbi, already known to law enforcement, was arrested. The operation was conducted by Carabinieri officers from the Villaricca station, who were engaged in an extraordinary patrol of the area as part of their High Impact operations.

The officers allegedly caught the young man with another man inside a rental car. According to the investigation, the two were engaged in drug dealing when the operation began.

The chase and escape on foot

Upon seeing the police, the two men attempted to escape, leading to a chase that first took place in a car and then on foot.

The chase ended with the arrest of the eighteen-year-old, while his accomplice managed to escape and disappear. Investigations are underway to identify and locate him.

Abandoned purse: cocaine and cash seized

An important piece of evidence for reconstructing the episode came from the recovery of a bag that the two allegedly threw during their escape.

Inside, the Carabinieri found 16 grams of cocaine, already prepared for retail sale, as well as €180 in cash, a sum that will be assessed as part of the investigation into the suspected drug dealing.

The material was recovered by the military and is part of the items collected during the operation.

The transfer to prison

At the end of the operations, Balbi was arrested and transferred to prison, at the disposal of the judicial authorities.

Meanwhile, the search continues for the accomplice, who apparently managed to escape during the chase. This incident is part of the territorial surveillance operations set up to combat drug dealing in the area north of Naples.

The presumption of innocence of the accused remains in effect until a final conviction.
