Two construction projects were suspended and over €22 in fines and penalties were contested. This is the result of inspections carried out on October 8th in Cancello and Arnone by the Carabinieri of the local station, along with the Labor Inspectorate and personnel from the Caserta Territorial Labor Inspectorate.
The inspections focused on two construction sites undergoing urban redevelopment projects for the construction of affordable housing. During the inspections, several violations of workplace health and safety regulations were discovered.
At the first construction site, inspections revealed a failure to draft an Operational Safety Plan (OSP), irregularities in internal traffic, and the lack of adequate protection against the risk of falling from a height. The company's legal representative was reported to the judicial authorities, and the work was suspended.
Irregularities also arose at the second construction site, where officers found the absence of a POS (Safety and Safety Instructions), critical scaffolding, and the failure to provide health surveillance to a worker. An employee was also found to be employed without a valid contract. In this case, too, the legal representative was reported and the business suspended, for both safety and labor violations.
The total fines and penalties amount to €22.578,79. The operation is part of the surveillance services carried out by the Carabinieri in collaboration with the competent bodies to prevent accidents and combat undeclared work.
The proceedings are currently in the preliminary investigation phase. The responsibility of the individuals reported must be determined in court, in accordance with the principle of presumption of innocence.
