"For a 50-year-old from Aversa, a two-month ordeal before discovering that they had left a swab in her abdomen following an operation and only a new intervention prevented her death. A doctor ended up in the dock. Episodes like this are unacceptable, they obscure all the good things about Campania's healthcare system and the great efforts made to bring it back to the levels it deserves. Those who have to undergo surgery should not hope for good luck, but for the training of conscientious professionals; entering the operating room cannot be a win-win situation. Severe sanctions and harsh measures for those who attack the health of patients. Those who do not have the right training should not mess with the lives of others." This was stated by Francesco Emilio Borrelli, regional councilor of the Greens and member of the Health Commission.
