“Worried about school? At this moment, no, honestly not.” So said the president of the Campania Region Vincenzo De Luca, speaking to reporters today in Salerno.
“Among the many important things done by the Campania Region – De Luca explained – even if some media outlets currently engaged in the campaign of aggression have not noticed, we have carried out serological tests on school staff, reaching 90% of the staff, compared to a national average that is almost 60%. We are the region in which we have carried out the most extensive preventive checks in all of Italy, because we have done a very careful prevention job”.
De Luca stressed that “as far as our data is concerned, we do not have a critical situation today, but – he added – we must keep our eyes open because compared to 6 months ago we have two new things: open schools and the flu epidemic, so we must know that the situation is more delicate than 6 months ago. For now, no dramatic situation, we have everything under control. In urban areas, we have the possibility of giving the results of the swabs during the day, swabs done in the morning and results in the evening, precisely to give the results immediately to avoid closing the schools. This is the work we are engaged in, the priorities are schools and retirement homes”.
