Valle Delle Ferriere – Botanical nature trail, between rivers and waterfalls is the second hiking excursion signed by Authentic Amalfi Coast.
An itinerary organized on September 6th in collaboration with Cartotrekking, where an expert guide will accompany walking lovers to discover one of the naturalistic wonders of the area.
Starting from the central Piazza Duomo in Amalfi, you first go up the entire historic center of the village, discovering it up to where it ends, and the Valle dei Mulini begins. Leaving civilization behind you, you immerse yourself in uncontaminated nature consisting of dense, green hygrophilous vegetation surrounded by small streams and moss waterfalls, until you enter the most "protected" area which is the Integrated Nature Reserve where you can admire the petrified moss walls and the prehistoric fern species called Woodvardia Radicans.
After visiting the entire Valley and the Natural Reserve, you will arrive at the small medieval village of Pontone (Scala), the oldest town on the Amalfi Coast, from where an extremely panoramic staircase will take you back to the center of Amalfi to finish the tour. Along the first part of the route you can enjoy the view of Amalfi from a different point of view walking among the lemon groves, a typical cultivation of these places.
After about an hour of walking you reach a crossroads where you have to turn right towards the rigid nature reserve. Walking along the Canneto river, you arrive at the most famous place with its waterfalls and rare plants. From the reserve you walk back to the crossroads and take the descent towards Amalfi. Here you cross the ruins of the ancient paper mills where they are used to produce the famous Amalfi paper.
