The woman, who has burns on 80% of her body, is alert and conscious. But her condition remains serious. She should be transferred to the Cardarelli major burns center this afternoon. She was located in the kitchen area from where the explosion apparently originated in the villa on Via Napoli in Cancello Arnone. Thanks to her screams and moans, the woman attracted the attention of the firefighters who did not lose contact for a moment with the 74-year-old who appeared lucid and alert.
The extraction operation was not easy due to the instability of the structure. The search for Mario, his relative and peer, who was in the bedroom at the time of the deflation, is still ongoing. A race against time for the red helmets of the provincial command of the capital and the detachment of Marcianise with the help of the dog unit, the earthmoving unit and the USAR team for a total of about 50 rescuers.
The couple are both active volunteers in the Cancello community: Mario, a volunteer for the Civil Protection; Giuseppina, a volunteer for the Parish of Sant'Alfonso dei Liguori, as well as practicing the art of “Tai chi chuan”.
