One dead and two seriously injured, all from the same family, is the tragic result of a road accident that occurred this afternoon on state road 272, between San Marco in Lamis and San Severo in the territory of Apricena, in the province of Foggia.
The mother, 26 years old, originally from San Severo but resident in the province of Naples, died and her daughter, a few months old, and the father were seriously injured. The little girl was taken to the hospital in San Giovanni Rotondo by helicopter. The father is also hospitalized with a red code. According to reports, the car, an Audi Q3, with the entire family on board, went off the road and ended up in a canal. The woman was thrown from the vehicle and died instantly. In addition to the 118 doctors, the Carabinieri intervened.
The accident also seriously injured the daughter of just 4 months and her father, Neapolitan and contemporary of the victim. Father and daughter were urgently transported to the Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza hospital in San Giovanni Rotondo where they are now hospitalized with a reserved prognosis.
The woman died before help arrived. The car the family was traveling in went off the road and ended up in a drainage ditch. Following the violent impact, the woman was thrown from the vehicle. Investigators do not rule out that the couple was actually on their way to San Severo, the 26-year-old's hometown.
