Caivano. The leader of the Five Star Movement Giuseppe Conte is visiting the parish of San Paolo Apostolo in the Parco Verde of Caivano, led by Don Maurizio Patriciello, a parish priest on the front lines in the fight against the Camorra and the phenomenon of toxic waste burning in the so-called Land of Fires, between the provinces of Naples and Caserta.
It is the second visit in 9 days to the Parco Verde of Caivano for Conte, who already last March 12 had met Don Patriciello to show solidarity after the intimidating act in front of the entrance to the church. Don Patriciello, welcoming and thanking Conte for his presence, asked for "dignity for Caivano", adding that "some have paraded here, others have not".
Conte addressed him and some citizens of Parco Verde, a public housing complex known for the suffocating presence of organized crime and for being one of the largest open-air drug dealing areas in Europe, who gathered in front of the church of San Paolo Apostolo: "We cannot turn our backs on you - said Conte - I said I would come back to better understand the reality and problems of Parco Verde and today I am here to act with humility towards solving the problems".
Addressing Don Patriciello, Conte assured: “You will see me here often, we will not leave you alone. I am not here for a photo. We will return even when there is no one left”. According to Conte “we need to reinforce the Carabinieri presence, but above all we need to offer job opportunities. No to the shortcuts of crime”, he added.
