Mega yachts, private jets and luxury villas worth a total of 143 million euros in assets have been seized by the Guardia di Finanza from Russian oligarchs who ended up on the European Union's blacklist.
European authorities have imposed an asset freeze on the super-rich nationals Russian as an international sanction against Moscow for its invasion of Ukraine.
A total of 680 people ended up in the sights of the Italian financial police, 25 of whom are “super rich”.
The Guardia di Finanza has 'seized' a mega yacht from Gennady Nikolayevich Timchenko, an oligarch close to Vladimir Putin: from what we learn, it is the Lena vessel, worth 50 million dollars, located in the port of Sanremo. The assets 'frozen' by the Guardia di Finanza thus rise to 143 million euros, including the seventeenth-century 'Villa Lazzareschi', located in the province of Lucca, owned by Oleg Savchenko, worth around 3 million euros; properties in the province of Como worth around 8 million euros from Vladimir Roudolfovitch Soloviev; the LADY M yacht, located in the port of Imperia, worth around 65 million euros, from Alexey Alexandrovits Mordaschov. Among the frozen assets is also the villa of the Russian-Uzbek gas magnate Alisher Usmanov in Costa Smeralda, in the Gulf of Pevero in Arzachena, worth 17 million euros.
"I believe that the sanctions must continue in the toughest way possible. In Italy they are looking for all the Russian oligarchs, yesterday there were some important operations. We must continue on this path and tighten the sanctions and also think about a block on oil imports". This was stated by the President of the Chamber of Deputies Roberto Fico.
