Camorra: it is a judicial earthquake, a real clean slate against the powerful Contini clan: 5 convictions and numerous acquittals including that of the boss Eduardo Contini known as 'o romano.
Only five convictions and a flurry of acquittals in the trial held with the abbreviated rite against about twenty defendants believed to be linked to the Contini clan. The judge for the preliminary hearing Maria Laura Ciollaro he sentenced Maria Aieta, wife of the boss Edoardo Contini, to one year and four months.
And another two years of imprisonment for Cyrus Botta, considered a leader of the Continis; four years at Charles Molinaro; five years in prison for the collaborator of justice Theodore DeRosa and finally, three years of imprisonment for Mario MaranoThe entrepreneur was acquitted of the crime of external competition in a Camorra association Luke Esposito (defended by lawyers Nicola Pomponio and Anna Maria Ziccardi), son-in-law of Patrizio Bosti, considered boss of the Secondigliano Alliance.
Also acquitted, among others, from the charges contested, was the boss Edoardo Contini. During the hearing, the judge rejected the acquisition of the statements made by Esposito to the investigators.
The Deputy Prosecutor of the DDA Ida Teresi, had focused his replies on the position of the entrepreneur Luke Esposito who has always declared to be engaged in the business of buying and selling luxury watches “customized”, among others, also for football players and wealthy people of international caliber.
Esposito, in fact, was arrested for another trial, while he was on his way to Dubai for business. The acquittals also involved the defendants Acanfora, Aniello (defended by the lawyer Massimo Amoriello), Ciotola (defended by the lawyer Maddalena Stompanato), Diana, Ventriglio, Salvatore, Lucia, Marco and Angelo Botta, Giuseppe De Rosa, Lieto, Imperatore Merolla, Santoriello and Vittorio.
