We are in Gragnano and this time it is not the elderly who pays the price but the arrested man. It is Pasquale Cannavo, a 19 year old from Napoli of the Materdei district already known to the police.
The method of the crime is now known but a grandmother's heart is so big that it can make logic and common sense fail. The victim, class 44, answers the home phone. On the other end of the line is the pseudo-nephew which warns her of thearrival of a courierA package you ordered is arriving but you have to pay. “Only 2 thousand euros grandma, then I'll give you the money back”.
The woman runs through the rooms of her apartment and rummages through her drawers. Among the memories of her life the old woman manages to put together only 1.600 € and waits for the courier with the hope that it will be enough. A few minutes and he knocks on the door. Too bad for him that in the building also lives a nephew of the victim who sees that boy and calls the Carabinieri of the Gragnano station who fortunately are in those parts.
The 19-year-old delivers the package to the lady – it is later discovered that there were some inside fruit juice carton – and takes the money. He doesn't even have time to count it before the Carabinieri arrive on the landing accompanied by the 77-year-old's nephew. He is stopped and arrested while the money is returned to the victim. Cannavo is now in prison awaiting trial and will answer for the crime of fraud.
