Tragic death of a 13-month-old baby, Giulia Maiano, with a tragic flight from the balcony of the hotel in Egypt, while she was in her father's arms. The little girl was originally from Pianella (Pescara) and was on holiday with her family in Sharm el-Sheikh: it was supposed to be a moment of relaxation at the seaside, away from commitments and the daily routine, and instead the two parents sank into a nightmare.
In a note, the mayor of Pianella Sandro Marinelli states that "The only news coming from Egypt is that little Giulia, only 13 months old, did not survive the fall. The parents were immediately reached on site by some relatives who left Italy yesterday and are awaiting news on the date of their return. The Italian Consulate is taking care of providing assistance to our fellow citizens.
The Maiano family is well-known and respected in Pianella and the surrounding municipalities, having long run a cleaning company for public and private entities and this story has deeply shaken all the members”. The family members took action and left for Egypt, to reach the couple, support them and take care of all the necessary paperwork.
